This is general information on the recreation programs that are offered each year.  This is not the page to register on, please check registration dates below to find out when registration opens.  When registration is open you will find the registration page under the "Youth Sports" Column on the Program Listing under the Register Tab above.

Programs are offered in the Fall of each year- late August -Oct.
Registration opens June 1st and closes the first weekend in August.
ABSOLUTELY NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED

Swanton Recreation’s youth soccer program is designed to be fun, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate, with an emphasis on skill-building, confidence, and a love of the game.
  • Itty Bitty (Ages 3–4): A playful introduction to soccer focused on fun, friendship, and basic skills like dribbling and kicking. Sessions emphasize movement, individual ball touches, small-sided games, and learning through play in a supportive, non-competitive environment.

  • Pre K–K (Ages 4–5): Players continue developing core soccer skills through game-based activities and rotating skill stations. Small-sided games are introduced to encourage teamwork, maximize ball touches, and build confidence while keeping sessions fun and engaging.

  • Grades 1–2: Players build foundational skills, learn basic soccer terminology, and begin developing a sense of team play. Each week includes one practice and one game, with a focus on individual improvement, understanding the game, and having fun.(Coed, inter program scrimmages, may scrimmage other MVSD Rec programs is numbers allow)

  • Grades 3–4: Players expand on fundamental skills while learning team concepts, sportsmanship, and respect. Practices and games focus on overall skill development, teamwork, and continued enjoyment of the sport, with age-appropriate game play including goalkeepers. ( Inter program scrimmages, games vs. neighboring towns such as Highgate, Franklin, Grand Isle, Sheldon)
     There are no 5th-6th programs, at the recreation level as players are eligible to play for Swanton Elementary. ravens
