The Youth Empowerment Summit is organized in collaboration with Swanton Recreation and the MVSD Youth Council, as part of the Vermont Youth Project 2.0.
Event will be hosted at Swanton Recreation 16 Jewett St, Swanton VT 05488
The Youth Empowerment Summit has been created by young people for young people, to provide a platform for youth to connect, learn, and grow.
We will focus on positive youth development and protective factors, giving youth a fun, welcoming and self environment for them to:
- Foster a sense of community and belonging among youth from diverse backgrounds, from all over Franklin County
- Provide access and understanding to third space opportunities, such as those available at the Swanton Recreation Center.
- Equip youth with skills, knowledge, and resources to navigate challenges and make positive choices.
- Celebrate the achievements and potential our youth need to inspire them to become leaders and change-makers in their communities.
Youth will have the opportunity to participate in
- Workshops and panel discussions on topics such as leadership, goal-setting, and mental health awareness.
- Skill-building sessions focusing on communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
- Create opportunities to showcase their talents and passions through performances, art exhibits, or presentations.
- Networking opportunities with local organizations and local leaders that can help them navigate resources for further support and engagement.
THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO ALL YOUTH IN FRANKLIN COUNTY, GRADE 5+
TRANSPORTATION IS AVAILABLE TO/FROM FRANKLIN ELEMENTARY, HIGHGATE ELEMENTARY, MVU, AND SWANTON ELEMENTARY. PICK UP AFTER SCHOOL, DROP OFF AT THE END OF THE EVENT.
THE YOUTH SUMMIT WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A TEEN NIGHT CELEBRATION for YOUTH 13-18. DINNER AND SNACKS WILL BE PROVIDED.
