Swanton Recreation Youth Leadership Program
To provide leadership opportunities to the youth in our community, while empowering them to activate and amplify their voice.

Youth leadership opportunities at Swanton Recreation ensure that youth feel valued as a community member while supporting a sense of purpose and responsibility through a civic lens. We build and facilitate opportunities with youth, by accommodating each youth's unique and diverse needs while integrating their input into initiatives aimed at supporting youth mental and physical health.

Swanton Recreation’s approach to youth leadership opens doors and opportunities for youth to be partners in decision making and governance and become more civically engaged. Swanton Recreation collaborates with the MVSD School district, community partners, local municipalities and local businesses to cultivate a youth-adult partnership to help youth develop skills in leadership, facilitation, team work, workforce skill development, personal accountability, critical thinking, community engagement all while building a sense of compassion, confidence and pride.
